Chapter 1:

My name is Ted. I am a single father and I am lucky enough to have twins. My wife died of cancer a few years ago, since then it has been only me and my children. I work as a consultant at an insurance company & I get pretty busy with my work so I have to let my kids take care of themselves.

I was just speechless. After thinking a lot I saw the watch, 3 hours had passed. I went downstairs into the living room and saw the kids watching T.V. like always.
“Good afternoon Dad.” Carol said.
“Ummm. Yeah, yeah Good afternoon” I said. I didn’t have the courage to scold them anymore. I really needed to talk to someone.
“Yeah Dad, you are early today, when did you get back?” Kevin asked.
“Just a few moments ago. One of our colleagues died and so I left early.”
“O.K. It has been quite a while since you were free right?” Carol asked.
“Yeah, I guess”
“Are you alright dad? You look like you have seen a ghost.” Carol giggled.
“Yeah something like that.” I said trying to smile. They just continued watching T.V. After a while Carol and Kevin went to Kevin’s room. I didn’t want them fucking especially when I was around so I went into Kevin’s room and asked, “Carol what are you doing in Kevin’s room?”
“Actually dad the heater in my room broke so Kevin is letting me stay in his room.” Carol replied.
“O.K. you should have told me that the heater broke. I would have sent it to the /> “Actually dad you were so busy with your work I didn’t want to disturb you” she said.
‘Disturb my ass you just wanted to fuck him’, I wanted to say but instead I said, nice of you Kevin to share your room with your sister but you should have at least told me. How long has the heater been broken?”
“Not too long dad just a few days.” Kevin said
‘Few days my ass you should have said nights you son of a bitch’ went in my mind but I thought, I just called myself a dog and my dead wife a bitch. Not to complicate matters I just smiled and left the room. Tonight was going to be a long night.
